Summary Description:
A data entry specialist enters information into a computer database for adequate record keeping. Data entry specialists must be able to type quickly and accurately and possess strong attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities
Accurately enter patient information, clinical data, and other relevant details into the designated EHR system.
Perform in depth review and validation of data for accuracy, completeness and consistency, ensuring all information is entered correctly.
Maintain up-to-date records and ensure all data is entered in a timely manner.
Verify and correct data discrepancies to ensure data integrity.
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and comply with all HIPAA regulations, adhering to best practices for handling sensitive health data.
Communicate any discrepancies, inconsistencies, or issues to the appropriate team members for resolution, escalating concerns when necessary.
Perform reverse data entry tasks, ensuring accurate and timely transfer of data into EHR. Also ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data by cross referencing with EHR.
Coordinate with IT and other relevant teams to resolve any issues related to data entry and system integration.
Assist in the collection and management of clinical data from EHR system and coordinate with Prior Authorization team.
Skills and Education
High School diploma or GED
1 year or more working in an office setting
Strong team work capabilities, self-motivation, and reliability
Basic computer literacy. Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred
Reliable, must have the ability to work well in a team setting and be a self-starter
